Biotech 101
My career in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries saw rapid advances in the development of new technologies for protein engineering, structural biology, computational chemistry, and drug discovery. I was able to participate in this development through a succession of positions in different companies and environments. My trajectory has been determined by a combination of emergent opportunities and external events. Some disruptive events were the result of business decisions that had little to do with the scientific endeavor. Others were the result of scientific expectations that initially looked feasible, but ultimately did not work out as anticipated.
